Step and Touch Safety Instrument at 2015 ICUEE Expo and iP Safety Conference

July 15, 2015 - Battle Ground, WA - Delta Computer Systems, Inc. announces that it will be exhibiting its second generation SNT-02 Step and Touch safety instrument used by transmission line crews at the iP Safety Conference held in Louisville during September 28--October 1, 2015. The event is the utility industry's leading education event for safety, training and field operation professionals.
This second generation SNT-02 Kit is an innovation of the Bonneville Power Administration and is designed manufactured and marketed by Delta. The BPA and Delta worked together to design this sealed, battery-powered, voltage monitoring and alarming instrument helping ensure the safety of BPA line crews since 2003. This latest SNT-02 Kit has enhanced features and accessories based upon field experience and includes a practical, field-proven instrument all packaged in a rugged enclosure for easy transport and use.
Each year the Utility industry realizes more and more that Ground Potential Rise on Transmission Lines is a safety hazard that is particularly dangerous since it can change rapidly during the work period due to factors such as drying soils, varying power levels on adjacent lines, and circulating currents due to multiple ground connections. De-energized lines that are bonded to an equipotential ground system can pick up induced energy from parallel lines. This electromagnetic coupling can result in dangerous voltages if the ground system is poor (high resistance). The SNT-02 instrument continuously monitors for Step and Touch potential, and provides 3 levels of visible and audible alarms, to significantly improve job site safety.
